Composite Fillings Post-Treatment Instructions

After you receive a composite filling, it will quickly harden and you will not have to hold off on eating. Be careful not to bite your tongue or cheeks as the anesthetic can take a little time to wear off.

Your tooth may be sensitive to extreme temperatures of hot and cold. This can last for a few weeks, especially if the filling was used to treat a large cavity. The gums may also be sore for a few days.

Sometimes the fillings may be too high, causing your bite to feel uneven. If this occurs, contact our office and we can adjust the level of the filling.

Allowing yourself to get used to the filling is important. Many times, it can take up to a few days to get used to have the filling in your tooth.

If you have any other questions regarding your filling, feel free to call our office any time!
